I would put it on about the same level as alcohol - okay in small quantities for enjoyment but not to be indulged in excess because it demotivates you and makes it harder to think clearly.
Your feelings are understandable. If you find it a bad habit put some space between the two of you until you are convinced he is of good character.
Being ill-tempered, frequently intoxicated, and unable to handle money responsibly are clues that people should be less than completely trusted.
Getting high is a form of intoxication. "High" is the drug equivalent of alcohol's "drunk". There are many verses in the Bible that allude to alcohol and drunkenness. The following verses pertain to sobriety, which can be interrupted in the light of all forms of intoxications and heedlessness. The key word in each verse is the Greek verb nēphō ( νήφω ). It is defined as follows: to be sober, to be calm and collected in spirit; to be temperate, dispassionate, circumspect.
1 Thessalonians 5:6-8 - So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. Night is the time when people sleep and drinkers get drunk. But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.
2 Timothy 4:5 - But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord.
1 Peter 1:13 - So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.
1 Peter 5:8 - Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
An off-shoot word of nēphō is the adjective nēphalios ( νηφάλιος ), which means: sober, temperate; abstaining from wine, either entirely or at least from its immoderate use. Nēphalios can be found here:
Titus 2:2 ESV - "Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness."
Thanks for the question. Peace be with you :)
The bible says nothing about weed. There are some Christians who will try to twist gods word in to covering it since he apparently needs their help to get it right.
Catholics have never had a problem with alcohol so why should they care about weed? Seriously? Is it just because its something black thugs do that makes it so much more objectionable than alcohol?
