What's the best kind of transport in Toronto?

I'm from Brazil and I'll be in Toronto in the next month for 2 weeks. I'll stay at an apartment in York neighbourhood and the school is at downtown, nearby CN Tower.

So, should I take buses or the subway to my transportation at the city?

PS: is my English ok?

Thanks

Might aswell rent a car from what I seen the kids in Scarborough and North York community they snatch stuff and run away if your on the ttc or subway so I recommend renting a car

Taking a car (rental or your own) is very expensive in Toronto. Parking for the day can cost $20 or more!

You will want to take public transit. Bus, subway. It does not matter which. What matters is where you are coming from and where you are going to. The buses and the subways are all usually part of one "network", so you can get off a bus and get on a subway as one "ride", so just need one ticket.

If I were you, for two week stay, I would consider getting a weekly pass to use the TTC network. It costs just over $40 per week. There is also a GTA pass ($61) that lets you also access buses in Mississauga, Brampton, and York.

You might need both, depending where you have to go. There are also streetcars. They are all part of the TTC, the transit authority in Toronto, and you can transfer from one to the other without paying again, if you make sure you get a transfer as you get on the first one.

Your English is good.

Where exactly in York?
You take what's most convenient. Downtown mist people take the subway, streetcar or walk.

The best mode of transportation in toronto is the subway and second best is the street car. You will need both to travel and your english is just as good as any native canadian's english.
