"The world is a looking glass, and gives back to every man the reflection of his own face." Thoughts? Do you agree or disagree? Why?

My understanding is that you tend to see in the world the characteristics that you yourself possess. If you are gentle and understanding, you will see a world full of good-hearted people doing the best they can to improve the world. If you are mean and unforgiving, you will feel that the world is a cruel, hard place. But which comes first? Is your perception caused by your personality, or vice-versa?

I disagree; the world is a sewer and what you get out of it depends on what you put into it.

It is the same as Karma, Justice, Reaping What You Sow

or as Tom Lehrer said
Life is a sewer, you only get out of it what you put into it

Yes and no , not every man those that have treated their symptoms and disease successfully reducing symptoms greatly can see the disease in others , those with the disease can only see it in others , as an Evolutional Goodhist I still have some symptoms but work daily to reduce the disease further . Jesus could see the symptoms as Buddha and tried to treat it but they did not really understand it only science can give the answers .

So, you think everyone is a (unt?

No, I don't believe that at all. I think I see people as they are with very little perception bias. I've heard that characteristics you dislike in others are the things you dislike about yourself, but that isn't the same as imagining a person is, say, selfish when he is not.
