Gardening newbie here ~ I have a question about my new spider plant.?
I just got a new spider plant and on the little tag, it says that I have to fertilize it monthly. Is there a certain type of fertilizer that I need to use that is specifically for spider plants? Thanks in advance.

Plants in winter do not need fertilizers . They dormant even if not out in cold . It is short daylight that make them dormant .
"Fertilize monthly" Very bad advice. Whatever company sold the plant probably sells fertilizer. I assume that this is a potted plant. Never, ever use chemical fertilizers (like Miracle Grow) in potted plants. It will slowly and surely kill them as chemical salts build up in the soil. These are very strong chemicals. They were discovered after WW1 when a German noticed that bomb making chemicals spilled on a lawn made the grass grow faster. But while it makes plants grow faster, it is an unnatural growth and you need to be extremely careful how you use it. More often than not when used by non-experts the chemical fertilizer burns the plant's roots.
I started indoor gardening decades ago and used chemical fertilizers. The plants slowly died. I found a build up of a white substance in the roots. Chemical salts.
Organic fertilizers are all "slow release" and will not burn roots or build up toxins. Toxins are also a concern. Pets can be made sick or killed by chemical fertilizers being stored inside. Most plants do not need monthly fertilizing. Use a good soil with a high compost content and you will usually only need to fertilize approximately once a year. Fertilizer "overdose" is the second most common cause of domestic plant death after overwatering.
Spider plants do indeed need some fertilization. They have similar requirements as African Violets. Use Espoma and / or Jobe's Organic. Avoid anything with the MIracle Grow name on it - even if it says "organic" - they have a very bad track record for quality control and have been caught lying about ingredients.
Spider plants are hearty plant. They are actually a ground cover, but do well in pots as well. If inside watering every 3-4 days should be enough. If the leaves get wilted, water more often. As for fertilizer Miracle Grow will be easy for you.
