Should I still spend a month and a half in Thailand after this string of bombings?

I planned to stay in Patong Beach in Phuket. There was a bombing there on Friday morning of Aug, 12th, 2016. This followed bombings in Surat Thani and Hia Hin.

Should I still spend a month in Patong this November? Should I stay in Pattaya instead, or should I go somewhere else aside from Thailand?

Yes. If you fear being in the crowd at a famous place during an explosion, then stay out of crowds at famous places. Thailand is large and offers many places to visit that are remote enuf to make bombing them ineffective. Hotels on the beach but not in a town are a great place to relax.

I would still travel to Thailand, despite the recent bomb attacks. The authorities and police have been informed to be extra vigilent too. As with anywhere you go, take care and use common sense.

Thailand is still a fun and pretty much safe place to visit!

Thailand is still one of the best places in the world for a vacation, and is no more dangerous than anywhere else in the world these days. Do not be put off and I would strongly advise not changing your plans. Have a great time.

A nice tour of Cambodia & Vietnam would be safer. Or the Philippines cheaper. Also safer. But first people need to know what you want in a vacation. Beach Philippines. girls Thailand. Philippine girls want husbands. Philippines most speak some form of English. A big advantage.

Even always welcome to Thailand, this time is not the best to visit Thailand, especially areas you said above. Those are famous attractions fulled of foreigners. Should let this crisis be stopped first, then come to here. Not too late.

Stay in Pattaya until they bomb there. Only kidding. I would not let the bombing stop me. I would go to Patong. You don't have to stay the month if the situation doesn't look good just leave. I am getting the feeling that this is more political than terrorist.

Still no one claims responsibility for the bombings. The western news reports say, the officials are investigating for Muslim ties. Al Jazeera news says from various sources the officials are investigating for local political ties. I have been visiting Thailand since 2004 and seen and read alot about Thailand. The former Prime Minister Taksin is a weasel. Takes all the credit for the good and takes no responsibility for the bad. There have been numerous bombings north of the problem southern area. All politically executed to stir up the people. Notice it was all in the southern portion of Thailand. Taksin's backing is north of Bangkok. The bombings hit at lesser concentrated areas to make a point to the western world.

So, you can take a chance that a bombing will NOT be repeated in the area. It's been a while since Pattaya had a bomb. I think 2013 or 14. that was during a ASEAN conference or something.

I have plans to visit Hua Hin this coming November. The pictures from Hua Hin were from an area I don't plan on visiting at night. It was on Soi Bintabat just under the Hilton Hua Hin. I walked that area during the day when I went there the first time. A bunch of small bars similar to what happened in Patong. The bomb in Patong. haha was also in a bar area, like a big firecracker. a motorcyclist passing by got hurt. I would not worry about Patong. Stay out of narrow alleys with bars. These kind of bars areas are low pedestrian traffic during the day. Heck, it's more dangerous sometimes being out at home with car chases and random shootings and what not going on, at least in the United States.

What are you coming for? Pattaya and Phuket are not really Thailand... but if you want bars and girls, okay. Phuket beaches cleaner, but more expensive. Thai government never really tried to find peace in South. Political can be terrorist (duh). The junta has tried to keep a lid on dissent since they took over, but something has got to give. You might want to consider Vietnam if worried about safety. I don't all that much: I've lived long enough and not fraid of dying.

It is a serious security lapse. Bombing is a bombing does not matter who does it. If you are dead trapped, you are gonna die. Simple as this. 14 bombings in a short span of time is a very serious breach of security you do not even get this kind of security mishap in countries like Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan. Your personal safety must be paramount importance to you. What is the point of living there if your mind is not at peace and trying to be watchful at all times and enjoying nothing. Anyways , if you have not visited Thailand as of yet, keep an eye out for latest news then make a decision.

terrorist are everywhere, they even tried to fire missile to Singapore from Indonesia, no where is safe. The possibility or the percentage of getting kill or hurt by terrorist in Asia is still very low, there is a higher percentage to get kill in US than any place in Asia
