The spark plugs are the first thing you replace. Use the brand of plugs that came from the factory.
Asian = NGK
GM = AC
Ford = Motorcraft
European = Bosch
I'd also change the spark plug wires while changing the spark plugs. If you have coils over the plugs check the coil boots for small white arc spots. if you see them you need new coil boots.

Yes, bad plugs could cause that. Also, in a badly-worn engine, oil drips into cylinders - even onto plugs - from worn valve guides.......not enough to keep engine from starting but takes a while for it to be burned-out. Worn valves also cause rough running because they don't seal completely until hot. And, of course, an overly lean fuel mixture causes rough running at start-up.

Spark plugs are cheap and easy to replace on many engines. You could just try to replace them to see what happens.

But I don't think it's that simple. It sounds more like a cold start issue.

I agree with passive on this one. Only to add that coolant can leak into a or some cylinders over time also. Comes from an intake gasket leaking or the dreaded head gasket. The engine reluctantly starts. Burns off the offending liquid and runs good after that.

A failing plug is more likely to cause a problem when hot not cold.
