The Syrian people risked everything they had to demonstrate in favor of having more democracy---more say in their government---in protest of a dictator-led regime. For their courage, many of these Syrians were slaughtered by Bashar al-Assad, who violated international law when he made use of the nerve agent SARIN GAS on unarmed civilians, killing thousands (many of them children). While bravely standing up to this brutal man, the Syrians were also caught in a power-seeking three-way crossfire between two ruthless outside groups: Nusra Front (which Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had classified at the State Department as a terrorist group due to its hatred of Israel) and the al-Qaeda-sponsored fledgling group out of Iran, Islamic Sunnis in Iraq and Syrian (ISIS), changed to Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant in 2014 after al-Qaeda leader Ayman Zawahiri denounced ISIS leader Abu-Bakr Baghdadi as an "unholy plunderer" (or Daesh) and ordered Baghdadi out of Syria. In open defiance of his former sponsor Zawahiri, Baghdadi doubled down and made the nations of the Levant (most of the Middle East plus Israel and Palestine) as the ISIL goal for takeover.

The Syrian people chose to flee triad of brutality and danger, and became Syrian refugees numbering in the hundreds of thousand, many of them women and children, each one seeking what we al want: safety, freedom, a chance to succeed. Yes, asker timf67...I do support vetted war-weary democracy-seeking courageous and devastated Syrian refugees being allowed to find safe haven in the United States...and so should you.
