Dublin is the capital of 26 counties known as the Republic of Ireland.Belfast is the capital of the remaining 6 counties known as Northern Ireland which even though they are the north eastern part of the island of Ireland, they are part of the United Kingdom.
It can be confusing if you are not Irish.
I live in the Republic of Ireland.
