I really love crime drama and have heard an awful lot about the show. The storyline and everything about it sounds like something I d really be into but was wondering is it a really disturbing show? I love hard hitting stuff and gore doesn t bother me, but I m curious as to just how disturbing it is? Can I expect really intense scenes and plenty of creepy content? I ask only because I love dramas like that, to me it makes them better because it draws you in.

Dexter is one of the best series I've ever watched. The only truly disturbing part is how quickly you will be his biggest fan as he slices and dices his way to quirky justice.

How disturbing you find it really just depends on your personal tolerance for that kinda thing. I'm able to watch any sort of gory horror or psychological thriller and it really won't bother me.

Personally, I don't find Dexter that disturbing at all. Since it's from the perspective of a serial killer every single episode features a minimum of one murder scene. The murders are usually carried out with a knife and although you do see the blood I wouldn't say it's gory in anyway.

There are a lot of intense scenes but you quickly get accustomed to the constant killings, because it's basically what the show is built upon. Most of the intense stuff is in relation to the anticipation of him catching his victims or whether or not he's gonna get caught and that kinda thing, but it does keep you very, very gripped.

Give it a try and see what you think. But I definitley wouldn't rate the show as being a horror or even a thriller in anyway, it's more of a crime drama. Other than the murders/crime aspect, it's a very normal show with a lot of focus on the Miami police department, relationships, family, careers etc.

I watched Dexter, if you dont mind the rated R parts, no its not disturbing since the most gory part is just the body parts left behind and stabbing, even so after the Trinity Killer Season it will drag some, even so it is fun for my "dark passenger" the show does have that crime drama thing but also a lot of cat and mouse type of drama, since he is always on how he hides while working for forensic and also mixing his "urges" on his daily life.

i never saw Dexter. But, you should check out The Blacklist. It's on NBC, and the fourth season starts in a month or so. if you have Netflix, i believe the episodes are on there. make sure to watch them in order to avoid spoilers, and general confusion. as plots carry over episodes, entire seasons, and the entire series.

there's also a spin off expected to premier this fall - The Blacklist: Redemption. It stars a secondary character from the first show and a couple other minor and new characters.

The Blacklist is a very good crime drama show with James Spader in the lead role.
