Molar mass of NO₃⁻ ion = (14.01 + 16.00×3) g/mol = 62.01 g/mol

The half equation for the reduction of nitrate ion is :
NO₃⁻(aq) + 4H⁺(aq) + 3e⁻ → NO(g) + 2H₂O(l)

The reduction of 1 mole of NO₃⁻ ions involves 3 moles of electrons.
Equivalent mass for NO₃⁻ ion = 62.01 / 3 = 20.67
