Melanoma at 16?!?

I'm 16 and I have this one mole on my back that I'm concerned about. I'm going to the dermatologist next month for just a regular skin check. But anyways the mole is small, has even edges and is all one color. The thing that concerns me was how it used to be darker and dryer. Could the dryness been caused by me swimming in a chlorinated pool? And it could have become more moisturized because I haven't swam in over a week. Oh and also the mole is raised. But small. It used to feel kind of like a scab but now feels more normal and smooth.
