When boron reacts with nitric acid what is produced? Boron Nitrate or Boric Acid? Please include half reactions.?
回答 (1)
When boron reacts with (concentrated) nitric acid, boric acid is produced.
Boron is oxidized to boric acid.
B(s) + 3H₂O(l) → H₃BO₃(aq) + 3H⁺(aq) + 3e⁻
Nitric acid is reduced to nitrogen dioxide.
NO₃⁻(aq) + 2H⁺(aq) + e⁻ → NO₂(g) + H₂O(l)
The overall ionic equation is :
B(s) + 3NO₃⁻(aq) + 3H⁺(aq) → H₃BO₃(aq) + 3NO₂(aq)
