Wedding menu?

2016-07-30 1:32 pm
First course:

Vegetable soup with smoked mushrooms and steamed carrots

Second course:

Boiled chicken with orange sauce and apricot sweet potatoes

Third course:

Apricot almond cake with cranberry sorbet

Drinks:

Sparkling water
Red wine
Cranberry lemonade

Any suggestions? How does this sound, I did it myself so please give me any cristism or ideas. By the way this IS a Jewish wedding, and we have 325-350 guests.

Yet another wedding menu question? And as bad as the rest you've posted....

Get rid of the soup and have a nice salad with a vinaigrette dressing (raspberry vinaigrette?)
NO BOILED CHICKEN. NO BOILED MEAT OF ANY SORT. Boiled chicken would be disgusting. Broil it. You need a vegetable side as well as the sweet potatoes (and you could skip the apricots in there if you're going with orange sauce on the chicken).
Dessert sounds interesting – you may want to provide a fresh fruit option for diabetic and gluten-free guests.

I have no idea who's coming up with all these menus for you, but none of them are overly impressive (but the chicken nugget appetizers in another question were hilarious).

You need to do one of two things: Find a real caterer. Or stop trolling this garbage.

Five months ago you were 16, and before that you posted a similar question asking why no one "ate at my wedding". Cheetos, anyone?

That's something I would eat but most items are rather on the sweet side.. what about any guests who do not eat meat?

I'm Catholic and for the most part a devout one. Many devout Catholic's only eat fish on Friday's (year round, not just for lent) but I don't eat fish. So that should tell you not everyone who is Jewish at your reception follows a Jewish diet and well I assume you have some guests who are not Jewish. My husband is a devout Greek Orthodox but he is also a vegetarian. Yup, he's that Greek guy who doesn't eat lamb.

I think for the first course you should have soup or salad to pick from and for the second course you need a vegetarian option too.

Some people their health, not their faith determines what they eat.

Boiled chicken. Exactly why I don't go to weddings. This has to be a troll post.

*criticism

Personally; I'm not a fan of meat and fruit, but you know your guests better than we do obviously

If you're serving chicken, it would be more standard to serve white, not red wine. And you obviously need a vegetarian option.

Very fruity and not much variety with the vegetables. What about people who aren't meat eaters - that leaves basically nothing for their main course. And boiled chicken? That sounds very bland.

Too many apricots. Nothing green. Red wine with chicken. Sweet sauce and sweet side dish together.

You should add in vegetable dishes, and fresh fruit and vegetable salads. There are people who don't like apricots.

Sounds very fruity...vegetable soup doesnt seem to match the rest of the meal

This is too sweet and/or fruity. Even the beverages are like this. You need to dial back on that. Most people seem to love orange chicken, but then don't serve it with fruity sweet potatoes. You need something salty to counteract it. Or....if you really love those sweet potatoes, try serving something more savory as the chicken dish.

On the beverages, I'd eliminate one of the fruity things and get some iced tea in there.

Jewish or not, this seems incomplete.

Stop planning menus and hire someone.

A lavish menu like that for 325-350 guests? I hope you are a RICH Jewish family! That much food for that many people is going to cost you an arm and a leg, not to mention the cost of the all the waiters that would be necessary to serve all that food to everybody in a timely manner. Lose the boiled chicken!

With that many people, why don't you just have a buffet, with a couple of meats, a couple of veggies, and a couple of dessert choices, and let everyone serve themselves? Less expensive; easier to manage; and less-time consuming. With the menu you planned, your guests would spend most of your reception just eating.

Why all the apricot flavoring? Does everyone like it?

Add in something green or a green salad not sure about the sweet potatoes, I love, but many people don't, maybe a russet /white potato casserole or baked potato with assorted toppings. The rest sounds good. You are making me hungry.
