I've been told that it reduces your capacity for higher level thinking, although that was in a core science class... and I'm and English major. ;)
Whatever the case though, definitely don't listen to any stoners on here about how their friend's dealer claims it has so many benefits, because if I know anything about marijuana, it's that it has no benefits whatsoever. If anything I've only noticed slightly harmful effects from it. Also keep in mind that although it's not as bad as tobacco, smoke inhalation can always cause harm to your body.
I encourage you to do the research yourself and not rely on secondhand opinions on here though-- and I'd always be cautious about using such drugs, including alcohol.

cardiac arrhythmia in some people. short term memory loss, a-motivational syndrome, can exacerbate shizophrenia, paranoid shizophrenia, and for some, can make anxiety or depression worse.
Smoking it can cause lung cancer. It has a higher tar content than tobacco. The THCs in marijuana are associated with memory loss and psychotic illness although a causal link has yet to be established.
Well I remember seeing a study a while back that showed that after prolonged use of Marijuana you would have a worse short term memory. Though personally after years of being a daily user I have felt no ill effects.
The only drug(s) that I know of that don't cause permanent health problems are the opioids. Any changes that the drug causes are reversible upon discontinuation of the drug.
Read the studies again. Especially read the entire studies not the paid summaries. The smoke is a bronchial dilator so it clears the lung of contaminants. Beneficial to people in smog ridden regions or people who smoke damaging substances like tobacco.
The mental effects are different from alcohol but mostly parallel them in amount of damage per amount of long term use.
