C + 2H₂ → CH₄
OR: Mole ratio H₂ : CH₄ = 2 : 1

No. of moles of CH₄ produced = 19.86 mol
No. of moles of H₂ required = (19.86 mol) × 2 = 39.72 mol ≈ 40 mol

...... Answer : b. 40

Write the BALANCED reaction equation , already done!!!!
C + 2H2 = CH4
The molar ratios are 1:2::1

Hence by equivalence
19.86 moles(CH4) is equivalent to '1'
Hence
19,86 x 2 = 39,72 moles(H2) is equivalent to '2'.

Hence from the optional values, the nearest is 'b' at 40 moles.
