Helloe there my fellows, XD i have always been interested in witchcraft and always wanted to be one, i think its beause my mum has spells books and always used to watch with films when i was growing up but i wanted to know how to start of being one and the rules and how to do all of these spells? :)
Wicca & Witchcraft are 2 different things... so you should probably start by learning the difference.
Wicca isn't about spells. It's a Pagan, polytheistic fertility religion. There's no 'rules', you have to learn about our our religion & understand it before you can decide whether to be it or not.
And Witches can be any religion (or no religion). You have to learn the principles behind it and mentally discipline yourself.
Either way, you need to read read read some more. There are no short cuts, there's no spell that'll make things go 'poof' for you.
Not one film you ever saw growing up depicted Wicca or Witchcraft accurately... there has not yet been made a film that portrays either one very accurately.
Being Wiccan is NOTHING like what you saw in the movies you watched. 1) No movie depicts Wiccans, period. What they do depict is a fictionalized, biased idea of non-existent Witchcraft perpetuated by nonsensical ramblings by those who want you to rely solely on their way of thinking and their ideas rather than letting your own mind determine what's real and what isn't. 2) Wicca is not Witchcraft. Wicca is a religion that was formed in the 20th century (every legitimate Wiccan acknowledges and agrees with this fact). It is a religion that focused on the worship of Pagan Gods.
There's a lot of nonsensical ideas out there that somehow it's about "being in tune with nature" or that it's about spell work that makes all your desires come true. Wicca is a religion focusing on the relationship you have with the Gods, and through their interaction becoming a better person. It has nothing to do with spells.
Spells are also a misconception. The kind of spells Wiccans may use (I say may because not all Wiccans are Witches as Witchcraft is a completely separate practice from Wicca) do not produce anything like you see in movies. For one thing, it can take anywhere from a few hours to a few years before you determine if your spell has been successful. Careful observation will tell you the signs of a working spell. There's no such thing as instant gratification. If this were the case, there would be thousands of millionare Witches living on private islands in the Bahama's.
It also takes a LOT of study to learn the intricacies of Witchcraft. You need to know how to focus your intent, prepare yourself for practice, understand what the tools are for and how to use them, how to create your own spells (as pre-made spells are more for those too lazy to do any real work, or for "posers"), etc.
If you're TRULY interested in the craft, MY suggestion, as a practicing Witch for a good number of years...read. Read all you can. Read all the reputable material you can get your hands on and then...read some more. A Witch never stops learning, never stops reading. But once you've gotten the basics, you can make attempts at practice, and the more you practice, the more adept you will become.
Wicca is more of a belief system than an act that is witchcraft. but if you really want to know what wicca is there are some youtube videos on it and I know Hastings has books on it. I would research paganism first.
If you really wish to be Wiccan I would start with reading up on Gerald Gardner, Vivianne Crowley, Doreen Valiente, Janet and Stewart Farrar, and Raymond Buckland. Don't forget to see the bibliographies in their books for more to read and don't stop there. Its a life of ritual and study.
Now if you want what's passing for modern witchcraft, Scott Cunningham, Amber K, Judika Illes, and Christopher Penczak (particularly the inner and outer temple witchcraft series) are good starts.
Triumph of the Moon goes over recent history including where Wicca fits in. Again, don't forget reading a few books off the bibliography. Drawing Down the Moon by Margot Adler will give you a good idea of just how many different kinds of groups are out there with different area's of belief as its a collection of articles from various groups.
That should get anyone who is really interested started. Yes, I said started. Its a whole life long range of, learning, researching and practicing if you are truly serious about it. What's more, general religious history and comparison comes in handy. So does a wide range of natural sciences including plants, animals and weather patterns. Feel free to add anything else you feel fits into your mold of what you feel your practice should be. Once you've learned the basics and the art of improve, the sky is the limit.
Like a lot of things, you need to do your research. Best of luck in your quest.
You'll have to spend 7 years apprenticeship to be a wicket keeper first.
It's a lot easier than you'd think, really.
Step one: Decide you want to be a witch.
Step two: Call yourself a witch.
That's the whole process right there. If you're thinking there might be some exam to write or training course to attend, you're wrong. There are no fees to pay, no authorities to approve your decision, nothing. If you say you're a witch, you are.
