I am a Tea Party Conservative but I think the right to life is one of our primary goals. So I believe in a basic medicare insurance policy for all based on your previous year income should be available to all USA citizens. If you say no then too bad. If you are illegal then go back to your country for coverage or buy a US policy.
Those that can afford it can get a regular policy if they choose and almost everyone would. At least then everyone can get insurance regardless of the situation.

The problem with Obama Care is that it destroyed coverage for the 85% happy with their policy instead of just fixing the 15%.

Yes. We are literally the only civilized modern country that doesn't make sure every citizen has access to health care regardless of their income level. We are supposed to be leaders not followers.

Yes. Access to medical care should be a basic human right. Literally every other modern nation in the world has it.

Yes. Because you shouldn't be sentenced to death due losing the genetic lottery or have the poor luck to have a serious accident.

The phrase 'free healthcare' really rankles me. NOBODY thinks health care should, or could, be -free-. The argument is how we're going to pay for it.

Most modern rich democratic republics see a certain level of health care as a right of citizenship, just like education, police and fire protection, public roads and bridges, etc. When people desperately need something and they can't get it any other way, they turn to govt. to make it available. That's one of the things govt. is FOR!

The single payer model just works better in almost every other developed country! Those countries get measurably the same quality of care that we do, but they pay about half what we do, plus everyone is covered.

In all those countries, making health care available to everyone is a major priority. Making everyone feel secure that if they lose their job or get cancer they won't lose everything they have and end up living on the street. In the US that's not a priority. Here, the major priority is profit for a handful of enormously powerful corporations who own the health care system. No politician, even Obama, could propose any change that might threaten their profits.

It's not free, those who pay pay with taxes. Why do you think a country with 47% of its citizens sick or in poor health makes a country great again?
2016-07-22 8:22 pm
I believe it should be a part of the taxes we pay. We are one of only a very small handful of 1st world nations that does not offer this to its citizens. Meanwhile, we pay more overall than anybody else, all while enjoying very far from the best outcomes for all the expenditure. Something is very wrong with our health-care delivery and payment system.

Should all sick and injured people be treated? Yes. That's already a matter of law. Hospitals do not turn people away because they don't have insurance. They treat the people, and then tack the costs onto the bills of the rest of us. The issue is preventive care, which people without insurance often don't get. That hurts all of us, because it's much more expensive to treat them when their illness is critical.

Yes. Because sick poor people can make sick rich people. Duh. I still don't see how this isn't a matter of national security for the CDC. When groups of Americans aren't getting vaccines cause they can't afford it, it puts everyone at risk..

Yes. Make doctors slaves and confiscate all buildings.

You are not entitled to a lawyer, breathable air, safe food, or safe cars. Why should anyone believe that sick people have the right to life? They should have worked harder to avoid cancer. Typical liberals just want handouts.
