It's not cucumbers. It's the fact something big and dark is behind a cat who's eating and instinct says it's a 'predator' like a snake. All you're doing is stressing out your cat.

Some people think traumatizing cats is funny. They drop the cucumber on the floor behind the cat to scare it.
