Acetylsalicylic acid (C9H8O4) is a medication, often used to relieve pain and reduce fever. It is more commonly called aspirin. Each tablet contains 325 mg of aspirin. An adult dose is 2 tablets.
• Calculate the molar mass of aspirin. Show all steps of your calculation.
• Calculate the number of moles of aspirin in a single tablet. Show all steps to find the answer.

1.
Molar mass of C = 12.0 g/mol
Molar mass of H = 1.0 g/mol
Molar mass of O = 16.0 g/mol

Molar mass of C₉H₈O₄ = (12.0×9 + 1.0×8 + 16.0×4) g/mol = 180.0 g/mol

2.
No. of moles of aspirin in each tablet = (325/1000 g) / (180 g/mol) = 0.00181 mol

3.
No. of moles of aspirin taken in one day = [(325/1000 g) / (180 g/mol)] × 4 = 0.00722 mol
