You MUST use the caret ^ (above the 6) to denote an exponent !!

11 - 4x = (3x - 2)^2 + 1

11 - 4x = 9x^2 - 12x + 4 + 1

9x^2 - 8x - 6 = 0

I assume you mean 11 - 4x = (3x - 2)² + 1

so, 11 - 4x = 9x² - 12x + 4 + 1

i.e. 11 - 4x = 9x² - 12x + 5

=> 9x² - 12x + 4x + 5 - 11 = 0

Hence, 9x² - 8x - 6 = 0
