Should I get a bachelors in Education before I go to grad school to be a school counselor?

Generally people do become certified teachers before becoming a school guidance counselor, but to my knowledge it's not required. This would be something to ask an academic advisor about.

What kind of counselor? Academic? Therapeutic? Behavioral?
