Can I save flower bulbs that I bought this year until next year for planting and still expect them to grow?

Seeds and bulbs do better the newer they are. But if you haven't planted them, you have little choice now. I live where it is very hot and here some bulbs have to be kept in your fridge...I've just changed to more tropical plants but keeping them in your fridge may keep them dormant.
Keep them in the refrigerator in the bag of soil they came in (to keep them from rotting) until you get ready to plant them. For bulbs that will flower in the Spring or Summer the next year, plant them in the late Fall after it gets cool outside.
Yes, keep them dry and cool.
Of course, keep them in your jewelry box.
In the first place, I would like to know about the term "bulb" which is often loosely translated to mean a number of unrelated kinds of plants. However, all these plants share a common characteristic: They store food in swollen underground parts during dormant seasons. When their growth season comes around, roots and leaves sprout from this natural storehouse.
As referring to professional gardeners; A true bulb (such as an onion, a daffodil, or a lily) is made up of fleshy underground leaves around a short piece of stem.
True bulbs often bloom in spring, as to tulips, narcissus, and hyacinths, although lilies normally bloom in summer. Tulips and hyacinths grow well for only a season or two after you buy them, since professionals have given them special care ( that you cannot duplicate) in order to develop big showy blooms. If you leave them in the ground, the flowers will get smaller and wilder looking the second year and may stop blooming completely.
Tulips and hyacinths require a period of cold weather in order to send them into complete dormancy before the growing season. Where winter are mild, buy the bulbs in early fall and store in the vegetable bin of your refrigerator for a month before you put them in the ground.
Once the bulb has flowered, pick off the dead blooms but never cut the foliage. The bulb needs leaves to make food for the following year's growth and bloom. To camouflage the foliage until they wither and fall off, try planting fast-growing annuals over the bulbs.
About your question of is it possible to save bulbs bought this year for next year planting and will expect to grow. The answer is definite.but they should be kept in cool and dark storehouse or basement.

Just plant them now. Trying to keep them dormant for a nearly a year is asking for failure. Just plant them.
Of course you can. Just plant them next year as you usually would. However the rate of success does drop a little. Say you buy 10 bulbs, and usually you'd get like 9/10.. If you use them a year or so old, the rate of success may be more like 6/10. Just keep them dry and cool and not in direct sun or anything like that.
Of course, keep them in your jewelry box.
