Problem 15.28
The conditions of standard temperature and pressure (STP) are a temperature of 0.00 ∘C and a pressure of 1.00 atm.

Part A
How many liters does 3.40 mol of any ideal gas occupy at STP?
Express your answer in liters to three significant figures.

Part B
For a scientist on Venus, an absolute pressure of 1 Venusian-atmosphere is 92 earth-atmospheres. Of course she would use the Venusian-atmosphere to define STP. Assuming she kept the same temperature, how many liters would 2.00 mol of ideal gas occupy on Venus?
Express your answer in liters to three significant figures.

Part A :
Pressure, P = 1 atm
Volume, V = ? L
No. of moles, n = 3.40 mol
Gas constant, R = 0.0821 atm L / (mol K)
Absolute temperature, T = 273.15 K

PV = nRT
Volume, V = nRT/P = 3.40 × 0.0821 × 273.15 / 1 = 76.2 L

====
Part B :
Pressure, P = 92 atm
Volume, V = ? L
No. of moles, n = 2.00 mol
Gas constant, R = 0.0821 atm L / (mol K)
Absolute temperature = 273.15 K

PV = nRT
Volume, V = nRT/P = 2.00 × 0.0821 × 273.15 / 92 = 0.488 L
