2.1 speakers with subwoofer, only playing one speaker?

I have some 2.1 speakers and a subwoofer, the subwoofer has a spot for the left speaker aux and a right speaker almost like a vga cord (not sure what its called) I plug the last cord into the SPDIF spot in the back of my PC and i only get sound out of the left speaker
