(Home fans) : (Away fans) = 13 : 2
Let 13k and 2k be the numbers of home fans and away fans respectively.

13k - 2k = 13,200
11k = 13,200
k = 1,200

Total number of fans
= 13×1,200 + 2×1,200
= 18,000

Let the no of fans be x

THEN , no of home fans = x+ 13200

( x + 13200 ) /x = 13/2

CROSS MULTIPLY

13x = 2x + 26400

11x = 26400

x = 2400

Fans = 2400 Home fans = 15600 Total fans = 18000 ANSWER

Let x = away fans

Then

13/2 = ( x + 13200)/x

2x + 26400 = 13x

26400 = 11x

x = 2400

Total numbers of fans = 2400 x 2 + 13200

= 4800 + 13200

= 18000

Set up equivalent proportions

13 / 2 = 13,200 + x /x

cross multiply to get 13x = 26400 + 2x
11x = 26400
x = 2400

where x is the number of away fans so there are 15600 home fans

that ratio is 15600:2400 which is equal to 13:2
