f(x) = x² - x - y (where y should be a constant)
g(x) = 2x + 8

g(6)
= 2*6 + 6
= 20

f(g(6))
= f(20)
= 20² - 20 - y
= 380 - y

f(x) = x² - x - y

g(x) = 2x + 8

g(6) = 2(6) + 8 = 20

f(g(6)) - f(20) = (20)² - 20 - y = 380 - y

Find G(6):

G(6) = 2(6) + 8
G(6) = 20

Now we can find F(G(6)), note that y in this function is just a constant otherwise it would be a function of x and y or F(x, y):

F(20) = 20^2 - 20 - y
F(20) = 380 - y
2016-06-24 2:50 pm
G(6) = 2(6)+8 = 20

F ( G(x) ) = F ( 2x+8) = (2x+8)^2 -(2x+8) - y
= (4x^2+32x+64) -2x-8 -y
= 4x^2 +30x +56 -y
F(G(6)) = 4(6)^2 +30(6)+56 - y
= 144 +180 +56 - y
= 380 - y
