You have a sample of CO2 in flask A with a volume of 25.0 mL. At 16.7 °C, the pressure of the gas is 432.8 mm Hg. To find the volume of another flask, B, you move the CO2 to that flask and find that its pressure is now 89.3 mm Hg at 26.4 °C. What is the volume of flask B?
Volume = mL
回答 (2)
CO₂ in flask A : P₁ = 432.8 mm Hg, V₁ = 25.0 mL, T₁ = (273.2 + 16.7) K = 289.9 K
Move CO₂ to flask B : P₂ = 89.3 mmHg, V₂ = ? mL, T₂ = (273.2 + 26.4) K = 299.6 K
For a fixed amount of gas :
P₁V₁/T₁ = P₂V₂/T₂
V₂ = V₁ × (P₁/P₂) × (T₂/T₁)
Volume of flask B = (25.0 mL) × (432.8/89.3) × (299.6/289.9) = 125 mL
P₁V₁/T₁ = P₂V₂/T₂
Don't forget to use absolute temperature.
