Germany....almost 100% of the time..........puts Made in Germany on their firearms.
People nearly always favor the parent company as the highest quality....IMHO is questionable. I just read a Yahoo article that German troops don`t trust their weaponshttps://www.yahoo.com/news/why-german-troops-dont-trust-165324784.html

Technically, the original parent company of Sig Sauer is Swiss, not German. (SIG = "Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft" or "Swiss Industry Company"), making the post WWII military pistols and battle rifles for Switzerland. The SIG P210 is still considered one of the most accurate handguns made. Due to Swiss law, SIG had to find a partner to market their firearms elsewhere and partnered with Sauer & Sohn in the 70's. Today SIG Sauer and SIG Arms in the US and Swiss Arms in Switzerland are owned by a German holding company (like most gun makers these days).

But I digress. IMO, I don't think a gun coming from a US plant or a German plant makes any difference. In the US, I am not even sure you can buy a new Sig made in Germany, if it is currently made in the US.

You can thank the Gun Control Act of 1968 for causing so many European manufacturers to build their pistol in the US. The 1968 GCA set minimum size standards and many, many popular pistols that had been in production for decades and decades - like the Walther PPK - were too small or didn't meet other parts of the new standard.

From a collector point of view - the home office built pistols are a much more desirable pistol to have in your collection. A German made PPK in 22 rimfire runs $1300 at gunbroker.com where as a USA made one is about $400. However a fired/used German made PPK in 22 is less than $400. Once a bullet goes down the barrel its game over for the collectors of this model.

For a pistol you are going to actually use - you probably want the US made one. This absolutely guarantees you don't run afoul of any laws. Consider what happened to the Walther P22 when it was introduced....... they were sold all over California for about 9 months before anyone realized it had a threaded barrel...... it was threaded for take down, not for a suppressor (which was the intent of the CA law, to obstruct suppressor attachment). Basically everyone who bought one was a felony waiting to happen. This was quite a mess to clean up. It serves a good reminder though - you get your hands on a foreign made pistol because you don't want to buy a US licensed version - you damn well better have all your ducks in a row that the pistol complies with your state laws!!!!

If you want to see state of the art CNC manufacturing, Sig put together a video that shows how they're put together here in the US. German Sigs are no better than American and likely being built with slightly older equipment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKTYEdbHhOM

And the second vid is of the german factory. Any difference between Nashaua NH and Eckernförde, Germany is all in your mind, they're 95% robot made

Like the other guy said, the parent company usually makes the best quality. I am German and I barely use my Sig as I cannot conceal carry here, but I have shot both German made and American made Sigs at the firearm range, and my answer might be somewhat biased since I will always prefer weapons from my own country, but nevertheless I still believe the German made is better quality as we have the parent company. And whomever makes it first will always save the best for themselves.

SIG Sauer are made in Germany, but SIG is a Swiss company. Swiss neutrality law does not allow direct sales of weapons to other non-neutral countries. To get around this law, SIG partnered with (then) West German gunmaker Sauer & Sohn to make SIG guns to be sold abroad.

Possibly the only thing different between German made and US made SIG pistols is the trigger pull poundage which by US stupid gun-control laws have to be higher that what is allowable in other countries. As for quality difference, there is none.
