We can let the length of the rectangle be x, and the width of the rectangle be y.
The length of the rectangle is twice it s width means:
x = 2y ...(1)
The perimeter is 36cm means:
x + x + y + y = 36
2x + 2y = 36 ...(2)
Subsituting (1) into (2) gives us:
2(2y) + 2y = 36
4y + 2y = 36
6y = 36
y = 6cm
If we put y=6 into (1), we get:
x = 2(6)
x = 12 cm
Hence the length of the rectangle is 12 cm and the width is 6 cm.
LET THE WIDTH BE X cm
THEN THE LENGTH WILL BE 2X cm
PERIMETER = 2 ( LENGTH + WIDTH )
36 = 2 ( 2X + X )
3X= 18
X = 6
WIDTH =6 cm LENGTH = 12 cm ANSWER
Let w cm be the width.
Then, the length = 2w cm
Perimeter (in cm) :
2 (w + 2w) = 36
6w = 36
w = 6
2w = 12
The length is 12 cm and the width is 6 cm.
The length of a rectangle is twice it's width.
The perimeter is 36 cm.
2(2w + w) = 36
3w = 18
The length of the rectangle is 12 cm
and its width is 6 cm.
x=2y
so 4 sides are: x,2x,x,2x
sum of 4 sides: 6x
perimerter=sum of 4 sides= 6x=36
x=6
