Total volume
= (150/1000) × 40 m³
= 6 m³

Volume of cement
= 6 × [1/(6+1)] m³
= 6/7 m³

Volume of sand
= 6 × [6/(6 + 1)] m³
= 5 and (1/7) m³

A = area = 40 m²
t = thickness = 150 mm = 0.15 m
V = volume = A∙t = 6 m³

A ratio of 1 part cement per 6 parts sand means that there are
a total of 7 parts. So, 1/7 of the total volume is cement and 6/7
is sand.

Cement = V/7 = 1/7 of the volume = 0.86 m³
Sand = 6V/7 = 6/7 of the volume = 5.14 m³
