Kinetic friction??

A block of mass m1 = 1.5 kg is placed on a horizontal surface. Attached to the block is a string which passes over a pulley and suspends a mass m2 = 3.5 kg.
If the system moves with a constant velocity, what is the coefficient of kinetic friction k between the horizontal surface and m1?

Consider the two blocks as a whole system.

As the system moves with a constant velocity, resultant force = 0
Frictional forces acting on the block m₁ = Gravitational forces acting on the block of m₂
m₁ g × μ(k) = m₂ g
μ = m₂ / m₁

Coefficient of kinetic friction, μ(k)
= 3.5/1.5
= 2.3
