4g of a metal oxide contain 1.6g oxygen then equivalent mass of the metal is?
回答 (2)
Work it out as follows...
4-1.6 = 2.4g of metal.
Ratio is 2.4 : 1.6
Multiply by 5 to get 8 g of Oxygen (= 1 equivalent)
12 : 8, so equiv mass = 12
Equivalent mass of O = 16/2 g = 8 g/eq
In 4 g of the metal oxide :
Number of equivalents of O = (1.6 g) / (8 g/eq) = 0.2 eq
Number of equivalents of the metal = Number of equivalents of O = 0.2 eq
Mass of the metal = (4 - 1.6) g = 2.4 g
Equivalent mass of the metal = (2.4 g) / (0.2 eq) = 12 g/eq
