Is my civic VTEC or non VTEC?

2000 civic ex . D16 engine that has a valve cover that says "HONDA" and that s it. But my friend says he thinks it might be VTEC? But idk how to tell foresure. Possibly just a different valve cover? Idk help.

You need to know if the engine is a D16....what. It is unlikely to have a Vtec without a vtec plastic valve cover .

Your 2000 Civic EX is VTEC. The CX & DX are non-VTEC but all other trims are VTEC.

d16y8 vtec , d16y7 no vtec. look for the vtec solenoid on the camshaft for vtec
