Please Help with PC Gaming.?

I'm quite new to PC gaming and I'm planning on ordering a gaming laptop at a pretty low budget. My question is, does the PC or Laptop you buy matter when you can install lots of better hardware to improve your Computer? Like, can you buy a prebuilt $600 gaming laptop and install new parts to make it be as good as a prebuilt $1000 gaming laptop? Thank you for your time.

It's not really a good idea to modify a laptop. Unlike a desktop, there usually isn't enough room to make all the necessary changes. You could upgrade the CPU but then not have enough room to upgrade the cooler. Your best option is to build your own desktop from scratch. Use pcpartpicker.com to get a list of all the parts you'll need.

Sorry but you are out of luck - even ludicrously expensive "Gaming" laptops are not good compared to a cheap gaming desktop.

As a very rough guide, think what the performance of a desktop costing one third the laptop price would be & that's like the gaming performance from the laptop.

Pay $1800 for a high-end gaming laptop and it will match a $600 gaming desktop; fair performance.

Pay $600 and it matches a $200 business grade desktop that's fine for web browsing, documents, email etc. but it probably won't run any serious game that came out within the last five years...

You cannot upgrade laptops, other than the hard drive/ssd or RAM; neither of those change the core CPU or GPU performance & those are what control gaming performance.

With a desktop, you can upgrade things massively, as long as you start with the right base parts.
eg. go for one with an AMD "Socket AM3" motherboard [FX-6 or FX-8 series CPU] and do not consider an AMD A-series CPU (APU) as they are not good for gaming upgrades, the GPU is part of the same chip.

Also avoid any with compact cases as they may not have room for upgrades, and avoid big makers such as "Dell", as many big-name ones use non standard parts so you have to buy a new machine.

Gaming desktops:
You can build your own gaming desktop using PCPartPicker - https://pcpartpicker.com/ from looking at ready built models and making your own. Almost any computer component can be ordered from https://www.amazon.com/PC-Parts-Components/b/ref=nav_shopall_components?ie=UTF8&tag=basebal-20&node=193870011

Visit https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc for ready made builds & technical help

Gaming laptops:
Gaming laptops are hard to upgrade since most hardware components (except RAM) are hard or nearly impossible to upgrade

It's buy once, use it policy for gaming laptops. If portability is want you need, then go with gaming laptop, else desktop is better option

In gaming desktop, you can easily upgrade almost any components in the future. But, that's not possible in laptop (as you'll need lots of techincal knowledge to upgrade component in laptop). Only RAM, screen, keyboard, touchpad, etc can easily be upgraded in laptop

Buying a pre-built laptop just to upgrade it is a poor decision, just drop $1000 on a nice pre-built one if that's what you're looking for. As for hardware to make it better, there is nothing you can really do except overclock your CPU and graphics card, and in a laptop, that would not be a wise idea, either.

yes or you can just build it from scratch from the start and cut the price in half.. why buy something then replace its parts lol
