My laptop keeps going into sleep mode automatically and the screen blinks occasionally and it's all very frustrating. As soon as I boot up my laptop it automatically goes into sleep and then boots up by itself and gives me about 3 seconds on the log in screen which isn't enough for me to type my password in and just goes back into sleep mode.

Yea you will need to factory recover after you boot up with a linux to recover your data
You have a variant of cute kitten which does exactly what you just described you can try going in through safe mode and disable sleep in control panel but it probably won't work

Go to settings and alter this.

Needs to be reset - take it to any repair place, they'll redo it to factory specs.
