Homework Question?
I have a math question i'm not totally understanding.
Solve for x.
4(2x+3)+3(x-15)=x-3
Thanks !

Break it up into segments:
4 * 2x = 8x
4 * 3 = 12
= (8x+12)
3 * x = 3x
3 * -15 = -45
= (3x - 45)
So now he have:
8x + 12 + 3x - 45
collect terms:
8x + 3x & (+)12 - 45
11x - 33 = x - 3
Subtract x and ADD 3 from both sides of the equation:
10x - 30 = 0
Now, take the 30 over to the right (where 0 is) ie - add 30 to both sides.
10x = 30
Divide the 10 and the 30 by 10.
10x/10 = 30/10
x = 3
4(2x + 3) + 3(x - 15) = x-3
8x + 12 + 3x - 45 = x - 3
8x + 3x - x = -3 - 12 + 45
10x = 30
x = 30/10
x = 3
4(2x + 3) + 3(x - 15) = x - 3
10x = 30
x = 3
