No it's not. Cheilitis and oral herpes may feel similar but they're are not related to each other.
Oral herpes causes cold sores and fever blisters on the mouth that itch, burn and or tingle. Cheilities causes pain full cracks in the corners of the mouth that get dry and itchy, they can make eating and opening your mouth painful. The cracks can take a few weeks or months to heal up.
The symptoms can be similar but they're slightly different in appearance.
I have both too so I know what that's like. I also get canker sores on the inside of my mouth.

Its unlikely that a doc or physician assistant would not know the difference between a herpes sore and angular chelitis. They look slightly different, and the pain symptoms also differ. No one really knows for certain what causes angular chelitis, but it does not seem to be related to or caused by herpes. It may develop from yeast or common bacteria, but there's no common cause observed in different patients.

Your doctor has years of training and experience and we're just random strangers on the internet. Clearly we will know much more about your facial problems than your doctor will. Dammit, how do morons like you survive?
