How much Soy Sauce do I put in my Stir Fry?

So me and my mom are making about 3 cups of vegetable stir fry tonight. The only non-veggie ingredient is soy sauce, but it's super high in sodium. We decided to by reduced sodium soy sauce, but it still contains around 500mg of sodium per tablespoon. How much would you recommend for quality stir fry. My mom said we need a cup, but I thought 1/4th cup was more than enough.

Welp, my mom went ahead and put in half a cup anyway... looks like I'm overdosing on sodium tonight.

1/4 cup might be too much, even. It's not just the sodium and salt, it's powerful. I'd start with 1/8 cup and add more if you think it needs it. You just want to coat the food, not make vegetable soup.

I'd say that your problem is not the soy sauce but your psychiatric obsession with sodium consumption.

I would start with a few tablespoons, maybe 2 and if you want more add that individually at the table.

Start with a few tablespoons. If you need a little liquid in the stir fry use a little vegetable broth or just plain water. You can always add a little more soy for taste after you've cooked it. A hint I got from a Chinese friend is to marinade any hard veggies, like sliced carrots, in the soy sauce before adding it to the stir fry. That way the flavour penetrates better.

Start with a teaspoon or two. You've only got 3 cups of vegetables, you don't want to overpower the dish with the flavor of soy sauce.

Will depend on the context really. Which is better as a snack - fresh fruit for me personally. It's tastier and gives you that little of sweetness. Which can be better as a snack if you are trying hard to slice back on sugar and lose weight vegetables

a little at a time, taste as you go then you will know when you have enough.

Tablespoon or two.

Wow 1 cup? you wouldn't be able to eat it. Actually about 1/4 cup is probably enough, especially if added to broth, ginger and some cornstarch to thicken the mixture up.
