f(x) = (x - 6)/x

The average rate of change of f(x) over the interval [-3, 6]
= [f(6) - f(-3)] / [6 - (-3)]
= [{(6 - 6)/6} - (-3 - 6)/(-3)] / [6 + 3]
= [0 - (9/3)] / 9
= -3/9
= -1/3

..... The answer is : C. -1/3

Is that (4x - 6) / x or 4x - (6/x)?

Average rate of change between 2 points is the slope between those points

You have (-3 , f(-3)) and (6 , f(6))

(f(6) - f(-3)) / (6 - (-3))
(f(6) - f(-3)) / (6 + 3)
f(6) - f(-3)) / 9
