Contract and Criminal act?

I don't know if i did or not, but lets just say that i did. I broke the contract by having cats in my apartment complex, but shouldn't the landlady just fine me or evict me rather than calling the animal shelter to come and get my cats? I feel like what she did was theft.

If she removed your property from your apartment, without your permission, then it was, by definition, "theft". You can have her immediately arrested and charged with theft. You win that one. She can immediately give you notice of termination of your lease for the violation, if it's in there. You then have until expiration of the notice period in which to move out. If you're still there after expiration, she can sue you for an order of eviction in the local court, which may take months.

Just try to get your cats into a good home, work with the LL to patch things up (if you still want to live there), or come to some agreement about how to gracefully terminate your tenancy and move on to greener pastures. You do NOT want to cause an unnecessary eviction, which stays in the permanent records of the courts.

And if she evict me, she has to give me time to move out right?
