URGENT! How can I keep cool at night? Overheating and can't sleep!?

My window is open, (it doesn't open too wide) I have no thick sheets and the fan is on. I'm not sure about the safety of leaving a fan on. It is still really hot and I feel like my temperature rising quickly. I fear overheating, as I have done so in the past. Does anyone know any other good way to keep cool, and is it okay to keep my fan on all night?

Fans are made to run. Leaving them on over night is perfectly fine.

A few of the answerers on here said use
a fan. That's a good solution for two reasons-it keeps the air moving above and around you, causing heat to dissipate.

Two-it's a source of white noise that will
help to block sounds from outside. You need quiet and comfort to sleep. Get some tryptophan from the drugstore, too.

I turn on the A/C if it's hot outside but if you don't have that luxury, a big block of ice in front of the fan helps cool the air a little.

I take a cool shower right before bed time. The shower makes falling asleep and staying asleep really quick.

Open windows, use fan, turn on air conditioning, if none of these work you should see a doc. goodluck sleeping!

All of the answers listed above are good advice. I would recommend that you evaluate why you are overheating... is it due to environment temps or are you dehydrated. If you do not have an ac I would recommend drinking enough water to alleviate your overtemp situation. In addition, a cool shower beforehand re bed works along with a wet hand towel placed on your skin. Keep the fan running too.

my bed room fan has been running 24 hours a day for the last few weeks... you don't have to worry about running your fan all night... as was said... spraying water on your body and letting the fan blow on you shall cool you off very quickly... ice in front of the fan wont do anything but melt really fast...

I think that you should figure out why you are overheating. Are there underlying health issues or is it just really hot outside? Are you a woman who is entering that time in her life for hot flashes, because these usually start at night. Talk with your doctor to help discover reasons and solutions.
