If one Muslim terrorist does not represent all Muslims, Then why does he represent all lawful gun owners?

He doesn't represent either one. He is an individual, with individual goals. Although we can piece together what may have been going through his head at the time, you can't state with certainty what his motivations were, and it's possible that we never will. There are many crimes committed where the motives just are never truly known.

That's the real terrifying thing here. Some fan shoots a singer he's obsessed with. Some guy mows down his entire family. Some guy plans a massacre at a gay pride parade. Some guy shoots up a gay bar. He wasn't even the only shooter over the weekend. He was just the only Muslim one. He doesn't have to represent all lawful gun owners, because the vast majority, we know, are responsible normal law-abiding people. But if we can't point to the motivations of shooters, then how can we nullify those motivations?

The outrage here is how easy it was for this guy to carry this out. Was it religion? Was it the guns? Was it the exposure to internet terror groups? Was it the contempt for gay people? If you think have the definitive answer to this question, then you're lying to yourself. Because there are plenty of people who subscribe to the above who don't go around shooting people. The only thing you can say about it is that there are no easy answers.

If we can stop all Muslim immigration to avoid a few terrorists, why can we not impose strict gun control to avoid a few mass shootings?

All gun owners have an instrument of terror at hand. They should all be registered and their use restricted for the public safety.

He does not. But, the fact that he was a lawful gun owner means that we need new laws about who can and cannot be a lawful gun owner and about what guns or ammunition are and are not lawful.
