Why might the nazis have called kristallnacht this instead of November pogron?

Kristallnacht means "night of glass", and it refers to the fact that on that night the Nazi's broke the windows of Jewish-owned businesses and institutions. Pogrom is a term that referred to the Russian's policy, particularly during the days of the Czar, of picking periods when they would attack Jews.

Could it be because most Nazis spoke German and not English?
