How to Tell the Difference Between the Branches of the US Armed Forces!

If you give the command "SECURE THE BUILDING", here is what the different services would do:

The NAVY would turn out the lights and lock the doors.

The ARMY would surround the building with defensive fortifications, tanks and concertina wire.

The MARINE CORPS would assault the building, using overlapping fields of fire from all appropriate points on the perimeter.

The AIR FORCE would take out a three-year lease with an option to buy the building.

Army, Navy, Air Force - These should be self-explanatory.

Marine Corps - They are a little like the Army, except smaller and trained for amphibious warfare, landing on the beaches and that sort of thing. While that have artillery and air support, it's all focused on supporting the infantry. The have the reputation of being one of the toughest training and attitude of the branches.

While the Air Force has the major portion of air power, including fighters, bombers, tankers, transport aircraft and inter-continental missiles (ICBM), each branch has some air power of it's own. Marines have fighters and helicopters for support of the infantry, Army has helicopters, the Navy has fighters, tankers, some transports and anti-submarine aircraft.

There is also the US Coast Guard, they are a branch but is not in the same chain of command. They currently report to Homeland Security. They are the "military police" of US shores. They also protect US assets in other ports around the world. They also work on their own doing drug interdictions any place they are needed. They also have a limited air wing to support this. They are armed, but not as heavily as a Navel ship might be.
