What are the cliche's in Gothic literature?

I have to write about Gothic novel A. Rice and her Vampires and I was given a question about cliche's in Gothic literature. Those are the stereotypes and not the elements/characteristics of the Gothic novels. I'm having trouble finding this information on internet. Can somebody help? It would be nice if it would come from some kind of stable reference.

You really need to read some Gothic literatue and identify the cliches for yourself. Walpole's 'Castle of Otranto' is one of the earliest pieces of English Gothic fiction, and it's quite short - perhaps you could start with that.

Dear, don't you think you should be reading scholarly literature about Gothic novels? That's how you do research on a topic like this. Go to a library and ask for help from a reference librarian.

Sorry, but the Internet offers only superficial sites. You need serious information. However, if you insist on sticking to the Internet, try searching under "Gothic fiction" and not "Gothic literature" and read everything you find.

By the way, you don't form a plural with an apostrophe. If you're writing a paper for an English class, remember that.

Cliche's ----
brooding vampires
angst in new vampires
blood thirst
moody scenery/weather
dark castles, run down, horror filled
Bats
wolves howling.
