how long do Spectrum ground chia seeds last?

On the package it says within 3-4 months it tastes best but expires in 2017, but online it says a few years if it is stored properly. What should I do?

Use them...thats what you bought them for.why would you even worry about it long before the use by date. (thats NOT an expiration date)
If you use them regularly, the use by date is a non starter.

Online is right, keep them stored in a cool, dry location in a well sealed container and they will last for years.
When a company packages something they want you to buy more so they mark the package with an expiration date so you'll throw out whatever is left and go buy more.
