Cu(s) → Cu^(2 )(aq) 2e- ......................................x3 to balance e-

NO3^(-)(aq) 4H^( ) 3e- → NO(g) 2H2O(l) ........ x2 to balance e-

3Cu(s) 2NO3^(-)(aq) 8H^( ) → 2NO(g) 3Cu(s) 4H2O(l)

Reduction half equation : NO₃⁻(aq) + 4H⁺(aq) + 3e⁻ → NO(g) + 2H₂O(l) ...... [1]
Oxidation half equation : Cu(s) → Cu²⁺(aq) + 2e⁻ ...... [2]

[1] × 2 + [2] × 3, and cancel 6e⁻ on the both sides. The net ionic equation for the overall reaction is :
2NO₃⁻(aq) + 8H⁺(aq) + 3Cu(s) → 2NO(g) + 4H₂O(l) + 3Cu²⁺(aq)
