WHAT CAUSES YOUR PERIOD?

So, my mom has tols me about how ill be getting my period soon, abd about pads and tampons. She told me that thats why i was getting cramps... But she never told me exactly WHY. What causes a woman's period?

A woman's uterus prepares itself for pregnancy every month by creating a lining of tissue on the inside of the uterus. This lining is essentially a cushion for the fertilized egg to attach to. Your ovaries, which lie above the uterus produce fertile eggs and release one (or more) each month. If there is no fertilized egg, our bodies expel that lining.

your period is caused by hormones.
every month the uterine lining builds up in preparation for a fertilized egg. every month an egg is released. when the egg is not fertilized because you do not get pregnant, the egg and the built up uterine lining shed since they are not needed. the shedding of the lining is your period.

You are turning into a women that can reproduce,your body is maturing into adulthood and that is about the biggest indicator there is that its happening.
