An earthquake measured 4.2 on the Richter scale. Use the formula R=log(A/A0) to determine approximately how many times stronger the wave amplitude A of the earthquake was than A0

A=42A0
A=1,708,020A0
A=15,849A0
A=66,566A0

An earthquake measured 4.2 on the Richter scale. Use the formula R=log(A/A0) to determine approximately how many times stronger the wave amplitude A of the earthquake was than A0

R = log(A/A₀)
4.2 = log(A/A₀)
(A/A₀) = 10^4.2
A = A₀*10^4.2
A = 15849A₀

R = log (A/A0)
R= 4.2
4.2 = log (A/A0)
10^(4.2) = A/A0
15848.9 = A/A0
So the answer should be the third one.

FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK
4.2 = log(A / Ao)
10^(4.2) = A / Ao
10^(4.2) * Ao = A

10^(4.2) =>
10^4 * 10^(0.2) =>
10000 * (roughly) 1.5

15000 * Ao

Which one's closest?
