How do you find out when something expires when it has no year?

I want to take some medication but the expiration date is April 14. There s no year. Right now it s June 4, 2016. How do I know if it s safe to take the medicine.

The medicine will have expired in the month of April 2014. That is what April 14 means.

When was is it prescribed or when did you buy it
oh and what is it? Generally speaking expired medicine is just not as effective however it isn't safe to take when in doubt.
